VDL Laktechniek has the option of having screen printing carried out on its own premises. This gives you a choice of various flatbed printing tables and a screen-making facility (the films are usually supplied by the client). Screen frames up to 2400 x 1640 mm in size.
The principle of the screen-printing technique is quite simple. A fine piece of silk / polyester mesh is stretched over a frame, after which the mesh is coated with a light-sensitive film layer that can be exposed using a positive film. In many cases, the film is produced photographically. The dark areas present on the positive are not exposed and are washed away during development, creating permeable areas on the screen-printing frame.
The ink is applied to the screen and spread using a squeegee, so that it is pushed through the washed-out areas and the shape of the stencil is printed onto the object to be printed. This technique can be repeated with different colours and shapes, which are printed next to or on top of one another.
