KTL, also known as cathodic dip coating, is an environmentally friendly electrostatic coating process in which a product moves fully automatically through a series of process baths.
The KTL bath is filled with a water-based cathodic coating, which is organic, and a direct-current voltage draws the coating particles towards the product.
This results in a protective coating layer forming on the surface.
Our sustainable cathodic dip coating (CDC) process consists of a number of successive steps. We begin with mechanical, spray and immersion degreasing. The products then enter the rinsing bath, after which activation takes place.
Next, zinc phosphating takes place, during which a phosphate layer is applied to the product. The products are then rinsed three times (demineralised water), after which the KTL coating is applied (variable coating thickness settings are possible, from 10 µm to >40 µm), and the products are rinsed three more times (2x UF and 1x demineralised water). Finally, the products pass through an oven process, resulting in an excellent primer coat for optimal corrosion protection.
By applying a KTL treatment at VDL Laktechniek, it is possible to provide areas that are difficult to reach with a high-quality coating.
In addition to coating difficult-to-reach areas, another major advantage is that the coating applied to the product is distributed evenly through the KTL treatment.
For even better protection of your product in particular, most KTL treatments are carried out in combination with a powder coating or wet-painting treatment. As our KTL process is set up for multiple metals, we can treat different types of metal.
Depending on your requirements, we would be happy to work with you to find the right solution.
